Greetings to all friendly BW players on AUS-1 and FSGS.net ... I can't believe how many different 'kinds' of Aussies I've met playing this damn game. A big hello and an extremely complicated gang handshake to Snake[888] from Cabramatta and to _Airw(A)lkeR_ and new convert {ff}ProtossKing{ff} ... so what the fuck does {ffff} stand for?
Well, pay attention, kids. If you're into playing music, you know that f means 'loud', or 'forte'. It's Italian for loud, anyway. ff means 'fortissimo', or 'play very loudly. According to a music site I had a quick look at earlier, fff is rare and ffff even rarer. But that was proof enough for me that it was a legitimate name ..! So what does it mean in the context of BW clan gaming? It means, none of that sneaking around using cloaked units shit. Leave the nuking to India and Pakistan for the time being! It means 30 TANK POWER RUSH, it means FLYING REAVER SQUADRONS, it means TURBO GUARDIAN DEATH FROM ABOVE.
If you have a tertiary education, and you studied arts/history, you might be familiar with a Norse or Celtic phrase that's since been coarsened into "Find 'em, feed 'em, fuck 'em and forget 'em". I forget the actual philosopher or sociological identity that set out the basic needs of human existance, but it ran along these lines:
"Fodder, flax, fire and frigg."
Which if I remember rightly, is "Something to eat, something to wear, somewhere to keep warm, and someone to love".
But seeing as most gamers find it hard to balance a real relationship with a real person, and all these incredibly important weblog updates, online socialising, and participating in virtual partisan feuding, it occurs to me that {ffff} should stand for
"Fodder, flax, fire and frag!"
New members welcome. GL HF!
